Fake Facebook Page Kytary.cz

Currently, a fake Kytary.cz page is spreading through Facebook promoting a fraudulent link

What Is It About?

The Facebook page of the musical instrument store Kytary.cz  is currently facing its fake variant. This page aims to spread the post shown in the image below. The scammers even paid for promotion, which is why it says "Sponsored" under the fake name Kytary CZ.

The post attempts to lure readers with a fabricated event offering Marshall speakers at a very low price. It also appeals for urgent action, a common feature of similar scams.

You can also notice that the link, which the interested person is supposed to click on, leads to a so-called URL shortener: https://tinyurl.com/marshall-specialni-nabidka-cz. This is suspicious in most cases because legitimate companies use their official domains and websites.

Under the post, you can also find comments from stolen or fraudulent profiles falsely claiming to have received the speaker. These claims aim to support the apparent legitimacy of the post and encourage readers to click on the link. Occasionally, you might come across a comment with imperfect Czech, which can again be seen as a warning sign.

How Does The Scam Work?

Let's take a look together at what happens if you click on the above link.

First, you will be redirected to a fraudulent website: https://foofork.com/swell-bluetooth-speaker-cabasse-review.

At first glance, everything seems fine. The page looks well-made and the Czech text appears correct and coherent.

What should catch your attention is the address bar at the top left. The domain foofork.com looks very suspicious, and at this point, you should leave the page.

Next follows a fictitious "game" where you choose a "prize". The goal is to keep you engaged in the ongoing scam, so your choice doesn't matter.

After clicking on a random "prize", you are informed that you have "won".

At this stage, the scammers try to extract personal information from you.

Finally, we reach the point of entering payment details. At first glance, it's unclear whether it is a legitimate payment gateway that can actually process payments or a fake one intended to collect credit card information for later use.

Again, notice the completely untrustworthy-looking domain techgadgetgo.com in the address bar.

This type of scam is called phishing, and you can read more about it on our website .

How To Recognize a Fake Page?

  1. URL address: Check if the URL address matches the official company page. Fake pages often use slight changes in the URL that may be unnoticeable at first glance.
  2. Number of followers: Official pages usually have a high number of followers and interactions. Fake pages may have suspiciously low follower counts or may seem new.
  3. Content: Look at the page's content. Fake pages often share posts that do not align with the usual content of the official page.

If you come across a fake page, report it to Facebook. You can also contact the company to inform them about the existence of the fake page so they can take steps to remove it.
