Fake articles that look like the truth – and could cost you a lot.

Recently, increasingly sophisticated scams have been appearing online, capable of deceiving even experienced users. One such case involves a fake article mimicking the appearance of the news website Novinky.cz, which is spreading through social media.

How the Scam Works

Scammers have created a website that closely mimics the design and structure of a well-known news portal. They exploit the credibility of this media outlet to spread fabricated stories aimed at convincing readers to invest in fraudulent financial projects. The links to individual sections in the site's header are functional and lead to the legitimate Novinky.cz website, which may further mislead users and reinforce the illusion of authenticity.

How to Identify Scam Websites

  1. Check the URL address: Fraudulent websites often imitate legitimate ones but may have slight differences in the domain name (e.g., novinkykrimi.cz instead of novinky.cz).
  2. Grammatical errors and poor language: These articles often contain strange phrasing or mistakes that a reputable media outlet would not publish.
  3. Suspicious content: Be cautious of claims about easy profits, rapid wealth accumulation, or sensationalist news.
  4. Fake reviews and comments: Scammers frequently fabricate positive reviews from users who do not exist.
  5. Pressure to act quickly: If someone urges you to act immediately, it is likely a scam.

Examples of Scam News

Scammers often use shocking headlines to attract readers. Common examples include:

"Boy found in a luxury BMW! He got rich too quickly and didn’t realize the consequences..."

The article describes a young man who allegedly became wealthy through rapid investments but faced legal trouble due to his success.

At the end of such articles, there is usually a link to register for a non-existent platform that promises easy earnings. Once users enter their personal details, scammers contact them with an "investment" offer, attempting to extort money from them.
